Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows (real name Matt Sanders) has revealed details for a unique upcoming concert. The band will headline a special show on October 25th at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California, with a setlist dedicated entirely to their early albums “Waking The Fallen” (2003) and “City Of Evil” (2005).
While the concert boasts a capacity of only 1,000 attendees, securing a ticket will be a chance for fans to relive these classic Avenged Sevenfold albums in an intimate setting. Supporting Avenged Sevenfold on the night will be long-running Southern California hardcore punk band Death By Stereo.
In a recent interview with Rock Feed, M. Shadows explained the reasoning behind the limited-run throwback show:
“We’re just not a band that wants to go take an old record on tour right now – it doesn’t interest us, it doesn’t excite us, but one night does,” he said. “And it really isn’t shots fired, ’cause everyone’s doing those tours. Just for us, personally, it doesn’t wanna make us get out of bed and go do that. But one night seems really fun to us.”
This announcement suggests Avenged Sevenfold prioritizes creative exploration over nostalgia. While fans of “Waking The Fallen” and “City Of Evil” won’t see a full-fledged tour dedicated to these albums, this special show offers a rare opportunity to experience these iconic records performed live in a small venue.
