The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has revealed that Shifty Shellshock, the lead singer of Crazy Town, died unexpectedly at the age of 49. His death was ruled accidental, caused by a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Shellshock had a long and public battle with substance abuse. He appeared on several seasons of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab and its spin-off Sober House, where his struggles and recovery efforts were documented. Despite multiple attempts at sobriety, he unfortunately experienced several relapses.
Shellshock’s passing is a tragic loss for the music industry and for his fans. His contributions to Crazy Town and his impact on the music scene will be remembered for years to come.
The official statement:
September 24, 2024 – The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner determined the cause of death for 49-year-old singer-songwriter Seth Brooks Binzer as the effects of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. The manner of death is accident.
Mr. Binzer was found unresponsive at a residence on June 24 and death was pronounced at 1213 hours.
An examination was completed on June 25, and after the receipt of relevant test and study results, the cause and manner of death were certified on September 24.
