Fans of Iron Maiden and heavy metal legend Paul Di’Anno can look forward to a documentary film chronicling his life in 2025. The project is helmed by Wes Orshoski, known for his acclaimed documentaries on Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister and punk rock pioneers The Damned.
The news comes following Di’Anno’s passing on October 21st at the age of 66. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Orshoski shared a tribute to the Iron Maiden vocalist, revealing he had been working on the documentary for several years as Di’Anno battled health issues.
“As many know, I’ve been working on a documentary about Paul for the past several years, as he has been fighting to get back on his feet – literally, emotionally, and professionally,” Orshoski wrote. “It’s obviously quite sad that it has ended this way.”
Despite the melancholic circumstances, Orshoski expressed his gratitude for collaborating with Di’Anno and promised the documentary would showcase the singer’s resilience. “The film will be out next year, and details will be forthcoming – the hope is for it to debut at film festivals in early 2025,” he continued. “I’m very excited for the MAIDEN faithful to see it. Once it is released, you will see just how tough his life has been over the past decade and how hard he fought to change it. Maybe he’s finally found some peace.”
In an August interview, Di’Anno himself confirmed the documentary’s progress, praising Orshoski’s work. He also hinted at the film’s scope, suggesting it would chronicle his entire career, from the highs to the lows.
“Everything,” Di’Anno said when asked about the documentary’s focus. “But you’ll see the determination sometimes and the despair. And it goes through the whole lot of emotions and stuff. It’s a bit strange.”
