Halford’s Surprising Admiration for Lady Gaga: ‘I’ll Still Be Banging My Head To ‘Paparazzi’ On My Deathbed’

Judas Priest’s iconic frontman, Rob Halford, has openly expressed his admiration for pop superstar Lady Gaga. In a recent interview, Halford discussed his appreciation for Gaga’s talent and artistry, stating, “Gaga is extraordinary. The way she crafts her music, it becomes immortal. I’ll still be banging my head to ‘Paparazzi’ on my deathbed.”

Halford’s admiration for Gaga extends beyond her musical abilities. He sees her as a powerful advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, citing “Born This Way” as an anthem. He even shared a memorable encounter with Gaga at her 2014 “ArtRave” tour, where he surprised her and witnessed her genuine excitement. Halford recalled, “When Gaga started her performance, me and Starlight snuck out into the audience. I was clapping and hooting and hollering like fans, and Gaga’s making her way out to them and then she sees us, and she literally falls to her knees and crumbles onto the floor.”

Halford’s openness to different genres reflects his belief in the universal power of music. He stated, “I don’t believe in barriers. I don’t believe in walls. I don’t believe in censorship. I think that all music is a feast.”

Halford also mentioned his admiration for Chappell Roan, another artist who has captured his attention. He believes in the importance of supporting emerging artists and passing the torch from one generation to the next.

This revelation highlights Halford’s eclectic taste and his appreciation for artists who push boundaries and inspire others. It also underscores the interconnectedness of the music industry, where artists from different genres can influence and inspire each other.
