Kittie guitarist/vocalist Morgan Lander recently sat down with Radioactive MikeZ on his 96.7 KCAL-FM show “Wired In The Empire.” When faced with the classic Metallica showdown – “Ride The Lightning” or “Master Of Puppets” – Lander surprised no one by being a fan of both. “All of 80s Metallica is pretty incredible,” she admitted. “But for me, ‘Ride The Lightning’ just edges out ‘Master Of Puppets.'”
Lander’s love for the album goes beyond its musical merit. She shared a personal memory: “Mercedes and I definitely listened to that album a lot, driving around town in her Cadillac at full blast. She had an 80s Cadillac and the stereo rumbling – it was pure nostalgia!”
While acknowledging the album’s “rough around the edges” production, Lander defends its charm. “I know the production could be better,” she conceded, “but there’s something special about it. I wouldn’t want them to re-record those songs. They’re amazing as is. It’s like a time capsule – the sound, the technology, their skills at the time – it all comes together perfectly. There’s magic in capturing a band at that specific moment.”
