In a recent interview with Mike Gaube and Shaggy of 94.9 and 104.5 The Pick, Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner discussed the recently released remixed and remastered version of the band’s classic debut album, 1974’s Rocka Rolla. When asked about the decision to reissue the LP, Faulkner said:
“We talked to various people about it. Some were in favor; others preferred the original version. I think it was important for the band to present the album closer to how we originally intended it to sound. However, many fans love the original as it is, while others are enjoying the new version. So, naturally, there will be differing opinions. Personally, I think it sounds great. [Longtime Priest producer] Tom Allom did a fantastic job with the remix, and it’s rewarding to see the album released in line with the band’s vision. That’s a significant achievement.”
Faulkner added, “Tom is an exceptional producer with a great ear. He genuinely loves Priest. During the Firepower sessions, he often expressed his passion for our music, and I believe that enthusiasm shines through in his mixes and the work he does for us.”
