Satyricon’s Upcoming Album Will Be ‘Very Varied’ With Some ‘More Conventional’ Elements

In a recent interview with Jerry Kurunen of Rauta, Kjetil-Vidar “Frost” Haraldstad, drummer for Norwegian black metallers Satyricon, discussed the band’s upcoming studio album. While he didn’t reveal much, Frost hinted at a departure from their usual sound, blending conventional elements with unconventional ideas.

Satyricon frontman Sigurd Wongraven’s work on the Edvard Munch project has significantly influenced the new material. Frost believes the album will be diverse, reflecting the band’s unconventional approach and the impact of Wongraven’s artistic journey.

Regarding the album’s release and potential touring, Frost confirmed that the band has been working on the material for some time. Once finalized, they’ll focus on the release and plan subsequent tours, possibly exploring non-traditional formats like special shows with visual or musical elements.

Frost emphasized Satyricon’s commitment to live performances, announcing upcoming spring tours. The new album and associated activities will likely fill the next two to three years.
